Back to Reality

Since September 4th I've been on a vacation to WA and then to CO. It's been a whirlwind trip. We hosted a fundraiser for Brandi Carlile's Looking Out Foundation in Seattle  over Labor Day weekend that was a HUGE success! The money raised is being put to good use supporting a wide range of causes, organizations and private citizens. Listen to Brandi's opening remarks on the AT.com homepage.

Some of the organizations/causes include:

The If Project

Maple Valley Food Bank

Home Alive

Tahoma School District (WA) Music Program (via the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council)

After the fundraiser, we were able to relax and enjoy our vacation. Here are a couple of pictures taken from our cabin just north of Seattle (on Lake Crabapple), from our explorations in Seattle and from our trip to Colorado (Boulder, Estes Park and Ft. Collins).

On the chicken front, our one hen with "bumblefoot" has fully recovered. Her foot is back to normal! Thanks to everyone for inquiring about her and for keeping her in your thoughts!

I return to work tomorrow and am excited about planning for the 2010 summer programs at VFES. Now that summer is over, I hope to post more regularly and reconnect with you all. I've missed the TBA readers!
