Top Concerts of 2009

I went to a handful of Brandi Carlile's gigs in 2009, including her Acoustic Tour supporting Give Up the Ghost and her full band tour supporting Give Up the Ghost. We caught her shows in Denver, Ft. Collins, NYC, Philadelphia, DC, Baltimore and Atlanta this past fall. We never tire of her live shows!

I saw Vienna Teng (with Alex Wong) in Chicago in a teensy venue and she blew me away. Ben Sollee opened for her and I found his voice so rich. He played a cello. If you get a chance listen to his songs: "A Few Honest Words" and "How to See the Sun Rise" (http://www.myspace.com/bensollee). He was very charismatic and played the cello quite percussively. Great show!

I missed Jonatha Brooke's show at the Sellersville Theatre due to the death of my grandfather, but her shows always rank among my top Five. Looking forward to catching her in March 2010 at World Cafe Live.

We went to WXPN's Xponential Festival (http://xpn.org/music-artist/festival-2009) this year and really enjoyed Serena Ryder's set on the Marina Stage. Check her out (http://www.myspace.com/serenaryder). She had an amazing energy and great stage presence.
