Back on Dry Land

Last week we went on a 5-day cruise to Belize and Costa Maya. It was no ordinary cruise - this was a Sixthman cruise. This was our second time on a Cayamo: Journey Through Song cruise and it did not disappoint. We spent 5 days on board the Norweign Dawn with 2500 other music lovers and quite a slew of uber-talented seasoned and new singersongwriters. Among them was: Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Brandi Carlile, Robert Earl Keen, Shawn Mullins, Edwin McCain, Edie Carey, Katie Herzig, Gregory Allen Isakov, Ben Taylor and MANY MANY MORE. There were shows all over the boat all the time. It wasn't unusual to spot Brandi Carlile singing with Vienna Teng or John Hiatt sitting in with Lyle Lovett. On a daily basis we could eat breakfast alongside Steve Earle or ride the elevators with Edwin McCain. It was surreal. We were in port two days and enjoyed exploring Belize City and Costa Maya.

Yesterday was my transition back to reality and I still seem to have my sea legs. I thought I'd share some of my pictures with you guys.

I hope you all consider going on a Sixthman cruise in 2011. No matter your musical tastes, there is a music-themed cruise for you! If you want to learn more about these and other themed cruises, check out this article in AAA World.

I'd love to hear some of your more unusual vacation adventures, TBA readers. Share away!
